Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS) has established collaboration with Department of Political Science at Lund University, Sweden. PIPS will collaborate with Department’s Asian Studies programme headed by Catrina Kinnvall, an experienced researcher working on several projects related to India, Pakistan and China. She defended her doctoral dissertation about “Cultural Diffusion and Political Learning – The Democratization of China” in 1995.
During the last 10 years she has written a large number of books, articles and conference papers/presentations, e.g. a text about “Gender, Multiculturalism and Religious Discourse(s): Women as symbols in Hindu nationalism” (together with Dr. Sidsel Hansson, Centre for East and South East Asian Studies, Lund University) in a volume titled ”Gendered Inequalities: Gender Research on Asia”.
In October 2007, PIPS Director, Muhammad Amir Rana visited the Department to cement further the collaboration. During his visit he also delivered his lecture on ‘Pakistan and radicalization of Islam, and the upcoming election’ and visited South Asian Studies Network (SESNET), the leading South Asian research network in Europe.
