Balochistan remained flashpoint of insecurity in March 2019: PIPS monthly report
Islamabad (PR) – About 58 percent of the total number of people killed in acts of terrorism across Pakistan in in March concentrated in Balochistan. As many as 9 attacks killed 15 people in the province and injured 60 others. While the attacks by Baloch insurgents claimed 6 lives, attacks by the TTP and sectarian groups killed a combined of 9 people. These statistics were provided in Pak Institute for Peace’s monthly security review of Pakistan for March.
The report also noted that 9 attacks killed 6 people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and another 3 attacks in Karachi claimed 5 lives.
On the whole, exactly same in number as in the month before, 21 terrorist attacks took place in Pakistan in March 2019. These attacks claimed 26 lives – 4 more than previous month – and wounded 73 people. Among those 26 killed in terrorist attacks in March were 14 civilians, and 12 security officials (one FC man, 3 policemen and 8 Levies); those injured included 67 civilians, and 6 policemen.
